Teriyaki chicken recipe is the easiest chicken recipe that cooks very fast in less time. Everyone will love this delicious recipe. Teriyaki is a Japanese word, Teri means “shine” and yaki means “to grill” in short(shiny and glossy grilled chicken). And it looks shiny and engraved with grill marks.
Teriyaki sauce makes this recipe more flavorful, and gives shine to the chicken, there is no marination process in it because teriyaki sauce is not a marinade, just pours on the chicken which gives a shiny look we can say it is a finishing sauce.
Teriyaki chicken is a superb form of protein but sodium can be high in it, to encounter this problem we can use low sodium soy sauce which doesn’t affect the taste overall. It’s a healthier recipe rather than fried foods.
Teriyaki Chicken Recipe
- 2 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 30ml light Soy Sauce
- 1/3 cup Japanese mirin (sweet rice wine)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 6skinless, boneless chicken thighs
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- Half a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- 50g runny honey or 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- Half teaspoon Corn Starch
- 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
- Fresh Green Onions
How to make Teriyaki Chicken at Home?
Step 1- Use chicken thighs or breast for this recipe. After seasoning with salt and black pepper, let the chicken rest for an hour to make it juicy.
Step 2- Before frying pat the chicken dry can be used paper towels and pat on them to remove the excess water then heat the oil in a frying pan add the chicken and let cook each side one by one until both sides are done and change their color to golden brown.
Step 3- Now prepare the teriyaki sauce by mixing all the ingredients for the sauce, add ginger and garlic in a pan and fry for 2 minutes then add soy sauce, mirin, and brown sugar and cook them over medium high heat until the sauce has reduced and thickened.
Step 4- Once the teriyaki sauce is done, now poured over this sauce into the chicken and give it a toss until coated.
