Ingredients:

I will mention all the ingredients in two sections for your ease.

For chicken tikka masala:

  • 2 Ibs. skinless boneless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 cup masala paste(mentioning next)
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1-2 tbs oil
  • 2 cups tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1-2 tbs salt
  • rice while serving(optional)

For masala paste:

  • 2 large sized onions(3 cups when chopped)
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 inch piece of fresh ginger
  • 3 tablespoons of garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • a small pile of cilantro stems
  • juice of one lemon

Preparing:

1. Making of Masala Paste:

Put all the masala paste ingredients (3 cups chopped onions, 5 cloves of garlic, piece of fresh ginger, 3 tbs garam masala, chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, ground cloves, 2 teaspoons salt, half a teaspoon cayenne pepper and piece of cilantro stem) into the food processor. Squeeze one lemon on it and turn on the processor. Grind well until smooth. Take out 1/4 cup of the paste for adding to this recipe. Store the rest of your paste in the freezer.

2. Chicken Marination:

Cut boneless chicken into small pieces(bite sized). Add in 1or 2 tablespoons of already prepared masala (in the first step) in a bowl along with yogurt and mix. Now, marinate the chicken pieces in this mixture for about 30 minutes before storing them in the refrigerator.

3. Cook Chicken:

Heat up a large frying pan on medium high flame. In the pan, add 2 teaspoons of oil. Take out marinated chicken and put all the pieces of chicken into the pan. Flip the chicken so that it will turn brown on both sides.

At this point, you don`t need your chicken to be fully cooked.

4. Prepare the Sauce:

Here, you just need to add 2-3 tbs of masala paste into the same pan. Stir it well and fry for like few minutes. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes after putting tomato puree and chicken in the pan. Make sure your chicken should be fully cooked now.

5- The End:

Add 1 cup of heavy cream (you can also use coconut milk) and sprinkle some salt. Wait until the sauce thickened up a bit more. Taddda! the delicious as well as mouth-moutering Chicken tikka masala recipe is ready. Serve it with rice and enjoy.
